Open Cheops Committee - The Open Cheops Committee was founded in 1997 to present and make public the case for the re-opening of the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The basic premise of the organization is that the Great Pyramids at Giza, Egypt were neither built for, nor used as tombs for Pharaohs, or anyone else. The facts are that there is no evidence whatsoever to indicate these structures are tombs. Our premise was acknowledged publically by Dr. Zahi Hawass (Head of the Egyptian Antiquities Organization) on Oct. 15, 2003 at the National Geographic's Headquarters in Wash. D.C. In doing so Dr.Hawass made every text book in the world and all previous theories obsolete. His candor in reversing his previous position is laudable. The Great Pyramids at Giza were a scientific, not a religious endeavor. They represent an expression of knowledge, rather than mere belief.
