Anitha Kannan - My interests are in probabilistic inference, machine learning and in general, finding patterns and latent regularities in large data sets. I enjoy working on practical applications that require learning from large diverse sources of data. I have worked on various applications in Web and e-Commerce search, Linking structured and unstructured data sources, Computational Education and Computer Vision. This has given me opportunity to work with some very smart people from varied backgrounds. My work at Microsoft Research has positively impacted several Microsoft products through technology transfers. Prior to MSR-Siicon Valley, I spent two years in the machine learning and perception group at Microsoft Research, Cambridge UK. I obtained my PhD from University of Toronto, advised by Brendan Frey.
